The Work
The Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship at iHub backs African startups building technology for classrooms. The impact was real, but it lived in dashboards and reports. We produced six short documentaries one per fellow that told it the way it’s actually lived: the administrator in Ongata Rongai who took her paperwork home every night, the teacher in Wajir whose Grade6 learners couldn’t read a Grade 3 story, the twelve-year-old in Ruiru who built her first robot.
The Approach
Verité and close: handheld, natural light, real classroom sound. Every film follows the same five-beat arc — the difficulty before, the tool arriving, impact in motion, the founder’s why, a look forward; so six very different ventures read as one series. The product stays secondary throughout. The human benefit is the hero.A shared LUT, one graphics package and a single instrumental identity held the series together across four counties.
